HYDROSTATIC TESTING - TRANSFER HOSES
We test a wide variety of transfer hoses which carry products such as diesel
fuels, oils, liquid drilling fluids (water base, oil base, synthetic base),
completion fluids (calcium chloride, zinc bromide, etc.), methanol, and more.
They may connect up with camlock connections, hammer unions, or flanges. They may
range in sizes from 1/4" to 12" diameter or more. Testing may be done at our
facility or on location. We routinely test on yards, boat decks, barges, and terminals.
Testing is done according to customer specifications as long as these meet with the
various sections of the Code of Federal Regulations, as applicable. For example, any
transfer hose that carries a hazardous material and spans a water source must have
a maximum allowable working pressure of at least 150 PSI and must be tested at
one and one half times the MAWP or 225 PSI. If the transfer hose will be exposed to greater
pressures than 150 PSI, the MAWP is increased to the pressures that will be encountered
and tested to one and one half times the actual MAWP.
After testing, if the hose passes the
test, a metal tag having a serial number, a test date, and the maximum allowable working
pressure is affixed to the hose. A test document is written up and signed by the technician. A
company seal is applied over the signature of the technician on the 'Coast Guard' copy of
the test document. » Photos
